Multisystemic Therapy
About The Service
Individualized Person- & Family-Centered Service
MultiSystemic Therapy (MST) is an intensive family and community-based treatment program designed to develop in parents or caregivers the capacity to manage future difficulties, reduce any criminal activity, reduce other antisocial behaviors, such as substance abuse, and prevent out-of-home placements.
Each individual referred to the program is assigned to an MST therapist who designs individualized interventions in accordance with the nine MST treatment principles, thereby addressing specific needs of the youth and his or her specific environment. MST is a time-limited (four to six months) intensive therapeutic program that provides services in the family’s home, at other locations (school, neighborhoods), or wherever the family feels most comfortable. This program is intended for ages 11+.
MST is effective in helping youth with chronic, violent delinquent behavior and youth with serious emotional problems, including:
Truancy and academic problems
Serious disrespect and disobedience
Improving school attendance and other school issues
Aggressive behavior (fighting and property destruction)
Addressing alcohol, drug, and sexual abuse issues
Finding alternatives to delinquent behaviors, i.e., gangs, violence, sexual abuse perpetrator, substance use, etc.
